Demons, they are all around us now.
They undermine us all.
We set the course.
They tell us not.
We forge ahead.
They suck us dry.
Promise of dreams come true
is, oh, the worst of all.
We hang our talismans on our walls.
Quick glance reminds us
someone, something,
may be looking out.
Our toll is paid,
we hope and pray.
Fools we are if all our demons
are merely in our head.
Surely, ignorance trips us up the most.
Something left undone,
something unforeseen,
an assumption
does not hold,
someone intervened.
Ah, that someone... They’re the ones,
the demons we all blame.
Calm she looks, poised and put together.
Yet still, you see her talismans on her walls?
They are the bulwarks of her calm,
defense to keep her demons out.
They work just fine,
until she leaves her home.
Cruel I am to point that out.
Why not staunch our ignorance?
No one soul can know it all.
We need each other.
We need to share.
But, if what we think we know
is really useless crap,
we and friends will be consumed.
For, we will have become
“that someone”, yet a demon more.
