Each day, no matter how glorious,
grueling, or filled with pain
does, in deed, extinguish its light,
close its petals, and put all
who forage by day to sleep.
Nocturnal creatures awake
to begin their day,
but safe dreams unfurl
in minds of all diurnal.
No creature ever perished,
devoured by monsters
come in visions. Instead,
what's vivid teaches us
beware, beware.
One last look before we
close our eyes
at what we've hoped
or striven to realize.
Is it right, or is it wrong?
Does it fill the bill?
Or, will frustrations haunt us
throughout the night?
This day is done. There's
no more time.
Struggle, suffer,
or giddy slide,
what's accomplished
is accomplished.
What's lost, we fear,
is horribly lost.
The day can never
be redone.
We've only our tomorrows
to build upon
or attempt repair
When day begins anew,
breathe fresh the golden air.
But give thought or two
to how it felt at end last day.
Then make this coming one
as worthy of remembering,
or even all the more.
