There are many signs that Winter has begun to depart and Spring take its place, longer glimpses of bright sun, the gentle trickle of snow melting, creatures stirring from winter's shelter, lone but enthusiastic birds chirping and whistling. But depending upon where one lives, there is always one sure sign that Spring has undeniably arrived. In the Upper Midwest, where I call home, that sign is a brisk warmish wind howling over fresh moist pungent iridescently green grasses. Late last February, while a long way from home, I crested a hill that landed me smack dab in the middle of that sure sign full blown, not in my neighborhood, but most assuredly in the presence of lush verifiable Spring all the same. If it isn't already before you, may the arrival of your sure sign be imminent. |
