People used to cook for themselves. Going out to eat was a social event. Nowadays, singles would rather eat out than cook for themselves. Then too, some are on the road working with little choice in the matter. Hard to say if unusual one-of-a-kind eateries are a new trend on the American landscape or a lingering anachronism. Either way, the character of such places is a treasure.
